Senior Project Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead and coordinate construction projects from planning through completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
This role involves close collaboration with project managers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders while overseeing project planning, execution, cost control, resource management, and compliance with engineering and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage construction projects throughout all phases, from initial planning to final handover.
- Develop project schedules, resource plans, and execution strategies to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Monitor project milestones and ensure activities are completed according to approved timelines.
- Identify project risks, delays, and operational challenges and implement corrective actions when required.
Site Supervision & Construction Management
- Oversee daily site operations and ensure work is executed according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Supervise labor, subcontractors, equipment, and material utilization to maximize productivity.
- Ensure construction activities comply with engineering standards, local regulations, and company procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor work quality to maintain project standards.
- Support project teams in resolving technical and operational issues during construction.
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Assist in managing project budgets and controlling project expenditures.
- Track project costs and prepare financial forecasts to support effective decision-making.
- Monitor material usage, procurement activities, and subcontractor costs to prevent budget overruns.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce project costs without compromising quality.
Contract Administration & Documentation
- Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation including contracts, variations, progress reports, and technical records.
- Monitor contract compliance and support project management in resolving contractual matters.
- Ensure accurate documentation of project activities and maintain proper records for audits and reporting purposes.
Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate project progress, milestones, and performance updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings with project teams and provide technical guidance when required.
- Maintain effective relationships with consultants, government authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
- Support project management in delivering client expectations and project objectives.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all construction activities comply with quality management systems and project specifications.
- Conduct inspections and quality control reviews throughout project execution.
- Monitor corrective actions and ensure continuous improvement of project processes.
- Promote adherence to company quality standards and industry best practices.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all project activities.
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and safety awareness programs.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action planning when required.
- Promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer Registration (UPDA/MMUP or equivalent certification preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of overall construction and project engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in project execution and construction management.
- GCC construction experience is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience working on commercial, residential, infrastructure, or mixed-use development projects.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and building materials.
- Expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and construction management.
- Knowledge of contract administration and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Proficiency in project management software and engineering applications.
- ERP system experience, preferably SAP, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of HSE standards and regulatory compliance.
