Senior Procurement Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Engineer to lead the sourcing and procurement of technical materials, equipment, and engineering services that support construction and operational projects. The successful candidate will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial agreements, and ensure the timely delivery of quality products while optimizing cost, quality, and project schedules. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, project management, and commercial teams to ensure procurement activities align with technical specifications and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that support project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to define procurement requirements and technical specifications.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers through market research, supplier assessments, and capability reviews.
  • Prepare and manage RFQs, tenders, bid evaluations, and supplier selection processes.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and material requirements to ensure procurement compliance.
  • Manage the complete procurement lifecycle, from purchase requisitions and purchase orders through delivery and supplier closeout.
  • Monitor supplier performance, quality, and delivery commitments, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure the timely receipt and inspection of materials and equipment.
  • Analyze procurement data and identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and streamline procurement processes.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, contracts, purchase records, and supplier databases in accordance with company policies.
  • Mentor and support junior procurement professionals by sharing technical knowledge and procurement best practices.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Promote Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards by supporting company safety initiatives and ensuring supplier compliance with organizational policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, tender management, contract administration, and supplier relationship management.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, technical specifications, and construction or industrial procurement requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation, commercial evaluation, and contract management skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in cost analysis, value engineering, and procurement planning.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement management software.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional procurement experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in engineering procurement or strategic sourcing.
  • GCC experience (minimum 2 years) is preferred and considered an advantage.
