Procurement Officer
Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to manage the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services that support business operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supplier management, contract negotiation, strategic sourcing, and procurement planning while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills to optimize procurement processes, improve supplier performance, and contribute to the organization’s operational and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Plan and execute procurement activities to ensure the timely availability of goods and services.
- Develop sourcing strategies that align with organizational goals and operational requirements.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to support informed purchasing decisions.
- Implement procurement best practices that improve efficiency and business value.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Source, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure long-term collaboration.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and service agreements to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
- Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvements or alternative sourcing strategies when required.
- Support supplier rationalization and vendor performance management initiatives.
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Monitor procurement spending and support departmental budget objectives.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Contribute to savings initiatives and improve procurement efficiency across assigned categories.
- Ensure purchasing decisions support financial targets and operational priorities.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Continuously improve procurement processes through data analysis, performance metrics, and operational best practices.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, and purchasing reports.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring complete and compliant procurement documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements and deliver effective procurement solutions.
- Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Warehouse, and Project teams to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services.
- Communicate supplier capabilities, market conditions, and procurement updates to relevant stakeholders.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Support company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives and comply with Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
- Promote safe procurement practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement or purchasing experience, including at least 3 years in a similar role.
- GCC experience is considered an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier negotiations.
- Experience analyzing procurement data and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, with SAP experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for reporting and analysis.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory planning.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market trends.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and diverse supplier networks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
