Job Overview
Parsons is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor to join our team in Dubai, UAE. The Land Surveyor will be responsible for carrying out field surveying, setting-out, leveling, geodetic calculations, and construction survey activities for major infrastructure and utilities projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Client, contractors, Resident Engineer, and project teams to ensure surveying activities are completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
This position requires hands-on experience with Total Station, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, CAD software, and survey software, along with strong knowledge of construction surveying and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, documents, and other information related to surveying and construction works.
- Perform land surveys, field surveys, construction surveys, and geodetic calculations as required.
- Supervise and coordinate surveying activities carried out by survey crews on site.
- Interface with the Client, contractors, consultants, and project teams to determine and verify project surveying requirements.
- Ensure surveying activities are completed accurately, safely, and within approved schedules, manpower, and cost budgets.
- Carry out and verify setting-out, levels, coordinates, alignments, and elevations for construction activities.
- Check underground and existing service locations and ensure appropriate protection measures are implemented.
- Prepare field sketches and supporting documentation for surveying activities.
- Maintain accurate survey records, including field books, sketches, measurements, calculations, and survey data.
- Measure completed works when required for progress verification and project documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and verification of as-built drawings and survey information.
- Conduct survey checks to ensure construction works conform to approved drawings, specifications, and required tolerances.
- Use surveying instruments and data collection systems effectively and maintain accurate records of survey results.
- Coordinate with construction teams to resolve survey-related issues and discrepancies.
- Follow all project health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements and site safety procedures.
- Actively participate in site safety initiatives and comply with instructions from the Resident Engineer and Project Safety Representative.
- Perform other surveying and project-related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Land Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant surveying experience, preferably on major infrastructure and utilities projects.
- At least 4 years of experience working with an engineering consultancy or supervision consultant.
- Regional/GCC experience in infrastructure, utilities, roads, or related construction projects is preferred.
- Practical experience using Total Station, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, and other modern surveying instruments.
- Knowledge of CAD software and surveying software.
- Good understanding of construction surveying, setting-out, leveling, coordinates, and site measurements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Good oral and written English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in field measurements and survey records.
- Ability to attend in-person interviews in accordance with the recruitment process.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices and site safety requirements.
Desired Skills & Competencies
- Working knowledge of construction sequences, surveying procedures, and standard construction work practices.
- Experience supporting roads, utilities, infrastructure, and civil construction projects.
- Ability to identify and resolve surveying discrepancies and coordinate effectively with construction teams.
