Construction Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee daily construction activities and ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.

The Construction Supervisor will coordinate site teams, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and work activities while monitoring progress and addressing operational issues. The role requires strong knowledge of construction methods, site safety, excavation works, civil activities, and workforce supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Construction Activities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities to ensure work is carried out according to approved plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Direct and monitor subcontractors and site teams, ensuring compliance with established work procedures and project standards.
  • Provide instructions and guidance to construction workers, foremen, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Monitor project progress and coordinate activities to support the achievement of planned construction schedules.
  • Review work plans and coordinate with relevant teams to address site issues and support the timely completion of assigned activities.

Material, Equipment & Resource Coordination

  • Ensure material requisitions are raised and submitted sufficiently in advance to support the project schedule and avoid delays.
  • Coordinate the availability of required construction materials, tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Monitor the condition and availability of site equipment and arrange maintenance or replacement when necessary.
  • Support effective planning and allocation of manpower and resources based on operational requirements.

Civil & Construction Works Supervision

  • Supervise a variety of civil and construction activities, including foundation works, concrete works, formwork, masonry, carpentry, brickwork, backfilling, pipe installation, chamber construction, and shuttering.
  • Coordinate excavation activities and ensure appropriate equipment is available for the required depth and dimensions.
  • Monitor deep excavation activities and coordinate necessary dewatering and shoring arrangements.
  • Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved methods, technical specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of completed work and take appropriate action to address deficiencies.

Quality Control & Project Completion

  • Conduct regular inspections to verify that construction activities meet required quality standards.
  • Carry out progressive punch listing to identify incomplete, defective, or outstanding work before project inspections and handover.
  • Coordinate with contractors, supervisors, and relevant project teams to close identified punch list items.
  • Participate in project coordination and claim resolution meetings when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, workforce attendance, and relevant construction information.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and potential workplace hazards.
  • Enforce site safety rules and promote safe working practices to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate with the HSE team to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure site accidents and incidents are managed and reported in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Support safety training and ensure workers and subcontractors understand relevant safety requirements.
  • Conduct or facilitate toolbox talks and daily pre-start meetings to communicate work plans, risks, and safety requirements.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and Integrated Management System (IMS) policies.
  • Participate in safety awareness programs, incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions where required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of overall work experience, including at least 5 years of relevant experience in construction supervision or site operations.
  • Previous GCC experience of approximately 2 years will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, civil works, and material specifications.
  • Experience supervising construction workers, subcontractors, and multiple site activities.
  • Good understanding of excavation, foundations, concrete works, masonry, backfilling, pipe laying, formwork, and related construction activities.
  • Working knowledge of construction tools, machinery, and site equipment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and the ability to identify and control construction hazards.
  • Good planning, coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to monitor project schedules and coordinate materials and resources effectively.
  • Effective communication and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
