Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial records, support accurate financial reporting, and provide accounting analysis to assist business decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining reliable accounting data, monitoring financial performance, supporting budgeting activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal procedures.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, practical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with financial systems and ERP platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review financial statements, accounting reports, and management information.
- Analyze financial data, business performance, operating costs, revenues, commitments, and financial obligations.
- Review accounting information to identify discrepancies, trends, variances, and areas requiring management attention.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately in the appropriate accounts.
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of annual and periodic budgets.
- Prepare budget-versus-actual reports and investigate significant cost or revenue variances.
- Contribute to financial forecasting by analyzing historical performance, business trends, costs, and expected revenues.
- Review financial reports to ensure information is accurate, complete, consistent, and prepared in accordance with applicable accounting and reporting requirements.
- Maintain reliable financial data and support timely access to financial information for management.
- Assist with the development, improvement, and documentation of accounting processes, controls, and recordkeeping procedures.
- Use accounting software, ERP systems, and other relevant technology to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Ensure effective use of assigned financial applications and systems to support timely reporting and analysis.
- Provide accounting information and financial analysis to support operational and strategic business decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial and business information.
- Support internal controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting procedures.
- Participate in company HSE initiatives, safety awareness programs, incident reporting, and corrective actions in accordance with applicable company and integrated management system requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal departments to obtain and validate financial information.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements when required.
- Support management with ad hoc financial reports and accounting analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties appropriate to the position.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting requirements.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Good understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Knowledge of financial markets, banking processes, and general corporate finance practices.
- Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial information.
- Practical experience with accounting and financial management processes.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems; SAP experience is preferred.
- Good computer skills and ability to work with financial reporting and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet reporting deadlines, and work collaboratively across departments.
- Understanding of workplace safety and HSE requirements is an advantage.
Job Experience
- Minimum total experience: 5 years.
- Relevant accounting/finance experience: 3 years or more.
- GCC experience: 2 years is preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with ERP-based accounting and financial reporting systems.
- SAP functional experience will be considered an advantage.
