Assistant General Manager – Accounts

 

The Assistant General Manager – Accounts will lead procure-to-pay (P2P) operations within our Shared Services / Global Capability Centre (GCC). This role requires a strategic leader to drive process transformation, scale automation, and manage high-volume transactional delivery. The ideal candidate will optimize service levels, manage complex vendor relationships, and maintain strict global compliance frameworks.

 

Allocation: 80% Accounts Payable Management, 20% General Ledger & Financial Reporting

Core Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Leadership (80% Focus)

  • Strategic Oversight: Direct end-to-end global AP processes including invoice processing, vendor master data management, payments, and queries.
  • GCC Delivery: Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for accuracy, aging, and processing volumes.
  • Digital Transformation: Lead automation initiatives using OCR technology, ERP upgrades, workflows, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Working Capital Strategy: Partner with Treasury to optimize cash flow, discount capture, and payment run schedules.
  • Open Item Management: Monitor, track and review on periodic basis open advances, GRN, Payables.
  • Control & Compliance: Maintain robust controls, internal audit standards, and global compliance regulations.
  • Vendor Management: Act as the escalation point for major global vendors and resolve complex reconciliation issues.

Financial Oversight & Governance (20% Focus)

  • Period Closes: Oversee sub-ledger closures, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure clean accounting cut-offs.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Manage alignment between the GCC team, onshore finance directors, and global procurement departments.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of AP managers, team leads, and specialists.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Systems: Advanced proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like SAP and Xpedeon.
  • Automation Tools: Hands-on experience implementing of automation.
  • Methodologies: Strong knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean principles, or Agile project management methods.
  • Communication: Exceptional English communication skills for managing cross-border stakeholder relationships
