Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious HGV Driver to support the delivery and collection of merchandise and packages. The role involves driving company vehicles safely, completing deliveries on schedule, and assisting with loading, unloading, and installation activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company HGVs and other assigned vehicles in accordance with applicable road traffic laws and company policies.
  • Complete deliveries and collections according to assigned schedules and instructions.
  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean, presentable, secure, and in suitable operating condition.
  • Complete routine vehicle checks and report any maintenance, safety, or mechanical issues promptly.
  • Ensure vehicles are appropriately fuelled and maintained according to company procedures.
  • Safely oversee and assist with the loading and unloading of merchandise.
  • Handle products carefully to minimise the risk of damage during transportation and delivery.
  • Assist installation teams with delivery, positioning, and assembly activities where required.
  • Drive responsibly and maintain high standards of road and workplace safety.
  • Plan routes and review delivery destinations in advance, seeking guidance from a supervisor or manager where necessary.
  • Use company mobile devices and equipment responsibly and primarily for authorised business purposes.
  • Complete required delivery records, documentation, and other relevant administrative tasks.
  • Maintain professional and courteous conduct when representing the company at customer and delivery locations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Valid Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driving licence appropriate for the vehicles operated.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional driving experience.
  • Driving record that meets applicable legal, company, and insurance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, where required for safe working, delivery documentation, and communication with customers and colleagues.
  • Good knowledge of local roads and delivery areas, or the ability to use maps and navigation tools effectively.
  • Strong awareness of road safety and safe vehicle-handling practices.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently while following company procedures.
  • Physically capable of carrying out the reasonable duties associated with loading, unloading, and delivery work, with reasonable adjustments considered where applicable.

Education

No specific academic qualification is required where relevant driving experience and the required HGV licence are held.
