Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer (MEP) to lead the planning, design, execution, and delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
This role requires extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, along with strong project management and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to deliver high-quality MEP solutions for commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical engineering projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design and review mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems in accordance with industry standards and local regulations.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure successful project integration.
- Develop project schedules, resource plans, and budgets while monitoring project performance against established milestones.
- Conduct technical evaluations, engineering reviews, and risk assessments to identify and resolve design or construction challenges.
- Perform site inspections to verify installation quality, monitor project progress, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and safety requirements.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, addressing technical and commercial issues as required.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, system validation, and project handover activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff by providing guidance, training, and engineering support.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures, and applicable industry regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, building services, and MEP design standards.
- Extensive experience in HVAC system design, plumbing networks, drainage systems, and fire protection engineering.
- Excellent understanding of international engineering codes and construction standards.
- Proven project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, and resource management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using ERP systems; SAP knowledge is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience managing MEP projects.
- Previous GCC project experience is considered an advantage.
- Experience delivering commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
