Site Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the successful execution of construction projects through effective site planning, scheduling, resource management, cost control, technical coordination, quality assurance, and HSE compliance.
The Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising daily site activities, coordinating with engineers, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders, and ensuring that construction work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with construction project planning, including site layout, work scheduling, manpower planning, resource allocation, and activity sequencing.
- Supervise and monitor daily construction site activities to ensure work progresses according to approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
- Monitor construction progress, productivity, workmanship, and quality to ensure project milestones are achieved on time.
- Coordinate with architects, project engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project execution.
- Identify and resolve site-related technical issues, coordination conflicts, and construction challenges in a timely manner.
- Manage the procurement, delivery, inspection, handling, and storage of construction materials, equipment, and other site resources.
- Ensure adequate availability of materials, equipment, and manpower to support project schedules and prevent delays.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure construction work complies with project specifications, approved materials, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to construction workers, supervisors, and subcontractors on site.
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements, and other technical documents to support accurate construction execution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site documentation, including daily reports, progress records, inspection records, material records, site instructions, and as-built drawings.
- Track project milestones, identify potential delays, and support corrective actions to maintain the approved construction schedule.
- Monitor project costs, material usage, manpower, and other site expenditures, identifying opportunities for improved cost efficiency.
- Communicate regularly with clients, consultants, project management teams, and other stakeholders regarding project progress, technical matters, site issues, and required actions.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify safety risks, quality issues, and non-compliant work and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Enforce HSE policies, procedures, and applicable occupational health and safety requirements on site.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, and awareness activities.
- Support incident reporting, investigation, corrective actions, and resolution in accordance with company policies and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager and Senior Engineers in the coordination and execution of construction activities.
- Assist in reviewing subcontractor work programs, progress updates, and technical submissions.
- Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.
- Assist with quantity verification, material reconciliation, and progress measurement where required.
- Coordinate inspections and approvals with consultants, clients, and relevant authorities.
- Support the preparation of project handover documentation, punch lists, completion records, and as-built documentation.
- Perform other site engineering and project-related duties assigned by management.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, materials, and site engineering practices used in building and infrastructure projects.
- Good knowledge of structural construction principles, drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in construction-related software and tools, including AutoCAD, project management software, and surveying instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of quality control, construction standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to implement safe working practices on construction sites.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, hazard identification, site inspections, and HSE procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve technical and operational challenges effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and construction workers.
- Strong organizational, planning, time-management, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site priorities while maintaining quality, safety, and project schedules.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, is considered an important requirement for success in this role.
Job Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in construction or site engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant Site Engineer experience in construction project execution and site supervision.
- GCC experience is an advantage, with at least 2 years of GCC construction experience preferred.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams is highly desirable.
- Experience working on large-scale building, civil, infrastructure, or construction projects is preferred.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional certification or engineering registration is an advantage.
- Additional qualifications in construction management, HSE, quality management, or project management are preferred.
