Storekeeper

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Storekeeper to manage the receipt, storage, control, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies. The successful candidate will ensure that inventory is accurately recorded, properly stored, and readily available to support operational and project requirements.

The role involves monitoring stock levels, maintaining organized storage areas, conducting inventory checks, resolving discrepancies, and using inventory or ERP systems to track material movements. The Storekeeper will also ensure that all storage and material handling activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and applicable health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Goods Receiving & Inspection

  • Receive incoming materials, equipment, supplies, and other goods from suppliers and vendors.
  • Verify delivered quantities and inspect items against purchase orders, delivery notes, packing lists, or other relevant documents.
  • Check incoming materials for visible damage, defects, shortages, or other discrepancies.
  • Record and report any issues with received goods and coordinate with relevant departments or suppliers for resolution.

Inventory Control & Stock Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials, equipment, and supplies under the store’s control.
  • Monitor stock levels and identify items that require replenishment to avoid shortages or disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and inventory audits to verify records against actual quantities.
  • Investigate and report inventory discrepancies, damaged items, excess stock, or other stock-related issues.
  • Support effective inventory control practices to maintain appropriate stock levels and improve material availability.

Storage & Material Issuance

  • Organize storage areas to ensure materials are properly labeled, identified, shelved, and easily accessible.
  • Maintain safe and efficient storage practices to protect materials from damage, loss, or deterioration.
  • Issue materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to authorized personnel based on approved requisitions, work orders, or material requests.
  • Record all material receipts, issues, returns, and other inventory transactions accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and project teams to ensure timely fulfillment of material requirements.

Store Operations & Record Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure store environment.
  • Ensure storage areas comply with applicable company procedures, housekeeping standards, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with the identification, segregation, disposal, or recycling of obsolete, damaged, or surplus materials in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Prepare inventory reports, stock movement records, and other store-related documentation as required.
  • Use inventory management software or ERP systems to update stock records, track material movements, and generate reports.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company policies and procedures related to store operations, inventory control, and material handling.
  • Support the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) initiatives and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
  • Participate in safety awareness activities and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report incidents, unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or other relevant concerns and support corrective actions when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of overall work experience, including at least 2 years of relevant experience in storekeeping, warehouse operations, inventory control, or materials management.
  • Previous GCC experience of approximately 2 years will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of inventory management and stock control principles.
  • Experience receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and tracking materials and supplies.
  • Ability to conduct physical stock counts and reconcile inventory records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining inventory documentation.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain orderly and efficient storage areas.
  • Ability to identify and resolve inventory-related issues, including stock shortages, excess inventory, damaged goods, and record discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems or ERP software, preferably SAP, will be an advantage.
  • Basic computer and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements related to material handling and storage.
