What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conduct comprehensive safety analyses for transportation systems, including roadways, traffic management, and multimodal infrastructure, to identify hazards and recommend improvements.
  • Perform crash analysis, investigating incident data, patterns, and causes to develop strategies for preventing future occurrences and improving overall safety.
  • Lead safety audits and inspections of transportation facilities, evaluating compliance with regulations, standards, and best practices, and preparing detailed audit reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project designs, operations, and maintenance plans.
  • Analyze traffic and crash data using specialized tools and software to assess risks, model scenarios, and propose mitigation measures.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, training materials, and guidelines to promote a culture of safety among project teams and operators.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, tracking improvements and ensuring adherence to safety goals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance, including local and international safety standards (e.g., IRF, AASHTO, FHWA guidelines).
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and present safety reports, findings, and recommendations to clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.

 

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in transportation safety analysis, with proven expertise in crash analysis and safety audits.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, crash investigation methodologies, and audit processes in transportation contexts.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis software and tools (e.g., crash data analysis programs, GIS for safety mapping).
  • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies for transportation projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting safety findings.
  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Road Safety Auditor certification, or equivalent.
