- Plan and execute structural engineering assignments independently, applying sound engineering judgment and established design methodologies.
- Develop, review, and modify structural drawings, calculations, specifications, technical reports, schedules, and related engineering documentation.
- Evaluate structural systems and components to verify their suitability, stability, strength, serviceability, and overall design performance.
- Design and assess structural elements for buildings, heavy civil works, infrastructure, and related construction projects.
- Establish and review structural design criteria, including material properties, geotechnical information, dead and live loads, wind actions, seismic effects, fire requirements, and other applicable design parameters.
- Perform structural analysis and verify the adequacy of beams, columns, slabs, foundations, walls, connections, and other structural components.
- Review loading arrangements and confirm that structural designs comply with relevant codes, standards, project specifications, and intended operational use.
- Evaluate the effects of environmental and operational loading on structural elements and incorporate appropriate design solutions.
- Assess the structural implications of temporary works, including formwork, tower crane foundations, temporary supports, construction loads, and associated structures.
- Prepare engineering calculations and technical details for temporary and permanent structural works.
- Coordinate with architects and other design disciplines to develop structurally sound solutions that align with architectural requirements and project objectives.
- Coordinate structural requirements with MEP services to minimize clashes and ensure practical integration of building systems.
- Develop safe, efficient, and constructible structural solutions while considering project cost, schedule, constructability, and applicable standards.
- Prepare detailed structural shop drawings based on approved tender and design information for consultant review and approval.
- Compare tender drawings with IFC documentation and identify structural scope changes, revisions, and potential commercial impacts.
- Prepare clear technical reports highlighting significant drawing or design changes for review by the Technical Manager and relevant commercial personnel.
- Develop and maintain material schedules and quantities for structural elements in accordance with project requirements and delivery timelines.
- Prepare and contribute to technical submittals, method-related documentation, calculations, drawings, and engineering packages associated with structural works.
- Review structural material and subcontractor technical offers received through procurement and verify compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and approved design requirements.
- Identify structural deficiencies, anomalies, or technical issues in existing or proposed structures and assess potential causes.
- Recommend technically appropriate corrective or remedial solutions for identified structural issues.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders on structural engineering matters.
- Monitor engineering deliverables to ensure they are completed accurately and within agreed project schedules.
- Support the implementation of HSE requirements, participate in safety initiatives, and contribute to incident reporting and corrective actions in accordance with company and integrated management system procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support technical reviews, design coordination meetings, and project engineering discussions.
- Assist project teams with resolving structural design and construction-related technical issues.
- Review engineering submissions and provide technical comments where required.
- Support the evaluation of design changes, variations, and site-related structural requirements.
- Maintain organized records of structural calculations, drawings, technical submissions, approvals, and revisions.
- Contribute to improving structural design processes, technical standards, and engineering practices.
- Perform other duties related to structural engineering as assigned by management.
