Senior Architect
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead and coordinate architectural design activities for complex projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that architectural requirements are fully coordinated, technically accurate, compliant with applicable codes and regulations, and aligned with the overall project design intent.
The Senior Architect will work closely with clients, consultants, engineers, contractors, and internal design teams to deliver high-quality architectural solutions within approved schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design process for complex projects, developing innovative, functional, and practical design solutions that meet client requirements and project objectives.
- Manage and coordinate architectural activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review and approve architectural drawings, designs, specifications, and construction documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, engineering, and other specialist consultants to resolve technical and design-related challenges.
- Ensure architectural designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, authority requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients and key stakeholders to understand project requirements, present design concepts, obtain approvals, and incorporate feedback.
- Lead coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams to maintain project alignment and resolve design issues.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, and other construction documentation.
- Monitor project progress, resources, deliverables, and design milestones to support timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior architects and other members of the design team.
- Conduct design reviews and quality checks to maintain high standards of architectural quality, functionality, constructability, and compliance.
- Identify potential design, technical, and coordination risks and work proactively with project teams to develop effective solutions.
- Stay updated on architectural trends, building technologies, sustainable design practices, digital design tools, and industry best practices.
- Promote the effective use of BIM and architectural software to improve design coordination, documentation, and project outcomes.
- Support the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) initiatives and participate in safety awareness activities.
- Contribute to incident reporting, investigation, and resolution in accordance with company policies and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support senior management in architectural planning, design reviews, and project-related decisions.
- Assist with design presentations, technical submissions, project proposals, and client presentations when required.
- Coordinate with procurement, commercial, construction, and project management teams to support successful project execution.
- Ensure architectural deliverables are completed in accordance with approved project procedures, quality requirements, and deadlines.
- Perform other architectural and project-related duties as assigned by management.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methods, building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of architectural planning, design development, detailing, and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in architectural design and drafting software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Experience with BIM workflows, architectural coordination, 3D modeling, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Strong understanding of structural, MEP, and other engineering interfaces within architectural projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong leadership and team-management abilities, with the capability to mentor and develop junior architects.
- Excellent project coordination, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Creative and innovative approach to developing functional, aesthetically appealing, and cost-effective architectural solutions.
- Ability to review technical drawings and documentation and identify design, compliance, and constructability issues.
- Knowledge of ERP systems; SAP functional knowledge is preferred and considered an important requirement for success in this role.
- Strong understanding of quality, HSE, and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
Job Experience
- Minimum 8 years of professional architectural experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in architectural design, project coordination, or a similar senior-level role.
- GCC experience is an advantage, preferably with experience working on projects in the Middle East.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders is highly desirable.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Professional architectural registration or certification is an advantage.
- Relevant experience with major architectural, engineering, construction, or real estate projects is preferred.
