Site Engineer – Construction Projects
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the successful execution of construction projects from planning through completion. The role involves coordinating site activities, monitoring quality and progress, managing resources, supporting safety compliance, and working closely with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction practices, site supervision, project coordination, health and safety requirements, and construction-related software.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning, site preparation, work scheduling, manpower planning, and resource allocation to support timely project delivery.
- Supervise daily construction activities and monitor progress against approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Identify site issues, technical challenges, and potential delays, and work with relevant teams to implement practical solutions.
- Monitor workmanship and construction quality to ensure completed activities meet approved standards, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate the procurement, delivery, handling, and storage of construction materials and equipment according to project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site personnel, subcontractors, and workers when required.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, progress records, inspection records, material records, and as-built information.
- Track project milestones and communicate progress, delays, technical concerns, and other relevant updates to project management.
- Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Support the implementation of HSE procedures, safety awareness initiatives, risk-control measures, and incident reporting processes.
- Monitor project expenditures and resource utilization, helping identify opportunities to reduce waste and control construction costs.
- Coordinate with clients and project stakeholders to address site-related concerns and support successful project delivery.
- Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, contractual requirements, company procedures, and applicable building regulations.
- Assist project management with resolving technical, operational, and coordination issues that may affect project schedule, quality, safety, or cost.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities as required.
- Review construction drawings and specifications and communicate relevant requirements to site teams.
- Assist in tracking subcontractor performance and work completion.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical and site-related updates.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project records and closeout documentation.
- Perform other site engineering and project coordination duties assigned by management.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction methods, site operations, materials, and engineering practices.
- Knowledge of structural and building construction principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction and engineering software, including AutoCAD and relevant project management or site reporting applications.
- Familiarity with surveying equipment and construction measurement techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a practical approach to resolving site issues.
- Good understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements applicable to construction sites.
- Ability to conduct or support site risk assessments, safety inspections, and corrective actions.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
- Good organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple site priorities.
- ERP experience, preferably SAP functional knowledge, is required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment and meet project deadlines.
Job Experience
- Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant site engineering or construction experience.
- GCC construction experience is an advantage, preferably with at least 2 years of regional experience.
- Experience working on construction projects involving site supervision, contractor coordination, quality control, and HSE compliance is preferred.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications in construction, safety, project management, or engineering will be considered an advantage.
