Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Site Engineer to support and coordinate construction activities at project sites. The role is responsible for assisting with project planning, supervising site execution, coordinating contractors and suppliers, monitoring quality and progress, and ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and applicable standards.

The Site Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to resolve technical and operational issues and maintain smooth project execution.

The successful candidate should have strong technical knowledge, site coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of construction activities in accordance with approved project plans, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Assist the project team with site planning, work sequencing, manpower allocation, equipment requirements, and material planning.
  • Monitor daily construction activities and compare actual progress against planned schedules and project milestones.
  • Supervise contractors, subcontractors, technicians, and site workers to ensure work is performed according to approved requirements.
  • Interpret and review construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Identify technical, operational, and coordination issues at site and support timely resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams and subcontractors on construction methods, drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure construction activities comply with project quality requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, QA/QC teams, and relevant project personnel.
  • Ensure materials and equipment used on site meet approved specifications and project requirements.
  • Coordinate material procurement, delivery, storage, and availability to avoid disruption to construction activities.
  • Monitor site productivity and identify potential delays or resource constraints.
  • Maintain accurate daily site records, progress reports, inspection records, material records, and other project documentation.
  • Assist with preparation and updating of as-built drawings and other technical records.
  • Monitor project quantities, material usage, and site expenditures and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize the use of project resources.
  • Communicate regularly with project management regarding construction progress, technical issues, resource requirements, and potential risks.
  • Support client and consultant meetings, inspections, coordination sessions, and project reviews as required.
  • Ensure site activities comply with approved safety procedures, applicable construction regulations, and company requirements.
  • Conduct or participate in site safety inspections and report unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from quality, safety, or operational inspections.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety-awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in accordance with company and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.

Site Execution & Construction Supervision

  • Monitor daily construction activities and ensure work progresses according to approved schedules.
  • Verify that site work is carried out using approved drawings, materials, methods, and specifications.
  • Coordinate different trades and work teams to avoid clashes, rework, and unnecessary delays.
  • Check dimensions, levels, locations, and installation details where applicable.
  • Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions and coordinate appropriate solutions.
  • Monitor contractor productivity and workmanship.
  • Assist in planning daily and weekly construction activities.
  • Ensure work areas are properly prepared before construction activities begin.
  • Coordinate access, work sequencing, materials, equipment, and manpower requirements.
  • Support project management in maintaining construction milestones.

Technical Coordination

  • Review drawings and technical documents before and during construction.
  • Coordinate technical requirements between engineering disciplines and site teams.
  • Raise technical queries when drawings, specifications, or site conditions require clarification.
  • Coordinate with design teams and consultants regarding design changes and technical issues.
  • Ensure approved revisions and updated drawings are communicated to relevant site personnel.
  • Support implementation of approved design changes and variations.
  • Assist with quantity measurements and technical assessments where required.
  • Provide technical assistance to subcontractors and construction teams.

Quality Control

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved quality standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for inspections and testing.
  • Ensure materials received at site match approved specifications and submittals.
  • Monitor workmanship and identify defects or non-conforming work.
  • Support investigation and resolution of quality issues.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain inspection records, checklists, test reports, and other quality documentation.
  • Support preparation of project handover documentation and as-built information.

Materials & Resource Management

  • Monitor site material requirements based on construction schedules.
  • Coordinate with procurement, stores, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely material availability.
  • Verify received materials against approved requirements and delivery documentation.
  • Monitor proper storage and handling of construction materials and equipment.
  • Identify potential material shortages and communicate requirements in advance.
  • Monitor material consumption and minimize unnecessary waste.
  • Support effective utilization of manpower, equipment, tools, and other project resources.

Project Progress & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate daily site reports and construction records.
  • Record manpower, equipment, materials, completed activities, delays, and site issues.
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Monitor construction activities against approved project schedules.
  • Highlight potential delays and assist in developing recovery actions.
  • Maintain records of inspections, approvals, technical queries, drawings, variations, and site instructions.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of as-built drawings and handover documentation.
  • Ensure project records are properly organized and available for future reference.

Cost & Productivity Control

  • Monitor site activities to ensure efficient use of project resources.
  • Support measurement and verification of completed work.
  • Monitor material usage and identify avoidable wastage.
  • Assist with tracking project quantities and site expenditures.
  • Identify practical cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Monitor contractor productivity and report significant deviations from planned performance.
  • Support project management with information required for cost forecasting and control.

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Ensure site activities are conducted in accordance with company HSE policies and project safety requirements.
  • Promote safe working practices among employees, subcontractors, and site personnel.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, inspections, and awareness programs.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and environmental concerns promptly.
  • Support implementation of corrective actions following safety inspections or incidents.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment and safe working practices are followed.
  • Cooperate with HSE personnel and project management to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support environmental controls relating to waste management, site cleanliness, and prevention of pollution.

Stakeholder & Team Coordination

  • Maintain effective communication with Project Managers, Construction Managers, consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with supervisors, foremen, and construction crews.
  • Communicate technical instructions and project requirements clearly.
  • Participate in progress and coordination meetings.
  • Provide timely updates regarding site progress, technical concerns, delays, and resource requirements.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Assist in resolving site-level conflicts and coordination issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support project mobilization and site establishment activities.
  • Assist with surveys, setting-out activities, measurements, and site verification where required.
  • Support project handover, completion inspections, and closeout activities.
  • Participate in technical audits, quality inspections, and project reviews.
  • Assist with preparation of method statements, work plans, inspection requests, and other technical documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons-learned initiatives.
  • Stay informed about relevant construction technologies, materials, methods, and industry practices.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Construction Manager.

  • Knowledge of digital document-management systems is an advantage.
  • ERP knowledge, particularly SAP, is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Engineering certification or professional registration is an advantage.
  • Additional qualifications in construction management, project management, QA/QC, or HSE are beneficial.

Job Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in site engineering, construction supervision, project execution, or a similar position.
  • Proven experience working on construction projects and coordinating site activities.
  • Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project teams.
  • Practical experience in construction drawings, quality inspections, material coordination, site documentation, and progress monitoring.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and construction/project-management systems is preferred.
  • GCC construction experience is preferred, with at least 2 years considered an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a technically competent Site Engineer with hands-on construction experience and the ability to coordinate multiple site activities effectively.

The candidate should be comfortable working at construction sites, interpreting technical drawings, supervising contractors and work teams, monitoring quality and progress, and resolving site-related technical issues.

Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, documentation, and coordination skills are essential. Candidates with experience in building construction, infrastructure, commercial projects, residential developments, industrial projects, MEP coordination, or large-scale construction environments will be advantageous.
