Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy of financial records, reporting, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, analyzing financial performance, and supporting business decisions through timely and accurate financial information. This role plays a key part in maintaining the organization’s financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Record, verify, and maintain financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring data accuracy.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans while analyzing actual performance against budget.
• Conduct financial analysis, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and cost variance reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure proper accounting for asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Prepare and review financial reports to ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with tax reporting, statutory filings, and external audit requirements by preparing supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
• Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Utilize ERP systems to maintain real-time financial information and generate management reports.
• Collaborate with internal departments to provide financial guidance, budgeting support, and operational analysis.
• Support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives by complying with company policies and participating in safety programs.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Solid understanding of financial accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting, and cost control principles.
• Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Familiarity with banking processes, cash management, and financial controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP, is highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality when handling financial information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent are considered an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience in accounting or finance.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Previous GCC experience is considered an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with SAP ERP or similar financial management systems is preferred.
