Senior Technical & Engineering Manager
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical & Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and technical functions across construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical strategies, managing engineering teams, overseeing design coordination, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
This leadership role plays a critical part in driving engineering excellence, optimizing construction methodologies, supporting value engineering initiatives, and ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Develop and implement engineering strategies that support the organization’s business objectives.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project goals.
- Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on complex engineering challenges.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across engineering and construction processes.
Technical Management
- Oversee engineering design activities, including design reviews, shop drawings, technical documentation, and material submittals.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Review construction methodologies, method statements, and technical proposals to improve efficiency and quality.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance.
Project Delivery
- Manage engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through execution and project closeout.
- Monitor project progress to ensure milestones, budgets, and schedules are achieved.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Support timely approvals from regulatory authorities and other statutory organizations.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure engineering activities comply with industry regulations, company standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project impact.
- Monitor engineering quality and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance and operational excellence.
Resource & Budget Management
- Plan and allocate engineering resources to maximize productivity and project success.
- Prepare, monitor, and control engineering budgets and resource utilization.
- Evaluate engineering performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend process improvements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with internal departments, consultants, clients, and external stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Facilitate clear communication between engineering, construction, procurement, and commercial teams.
- Build strong working relationships that support efficient project execution and client satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering or construction experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- GCC construction experience is preferred.
- Proven experience managing engineering design, construction methodologies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, technical documentation, and construction best practices.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and value engineering proposals.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, with SAP experience considered a strong advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
