Senior Project Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of construction and engineering projects from planning through completion. The position is responsible for coordinating technical and operational activities, monitoring project schedules and costs, managing resources, supporting quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, and project requirements.
Working closely with the Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, within approved budgets, and according to agreed timelines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate project engineering activities from initial planning through project completion.
- Support the Project Manager in establishing project execution plans, schedules, resource requirements, and delivery priorities.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules, budgets, specifications, milestones, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Review project drawings, specifications, technical documents, and construction requirements to support effective project execution.
- Coordinate site activities and ensure appropriate allocation of manpower, materials, equipment, and other resources.
- Monitor construction progress and identify potential delays, technical challenges, resource constraints, and project risks.
- Develop or recommend corrective and preventive actions to address project issues and minimize schedule or cost impacts.
- Support project planning and scheduling activities, including monitoring critical activities and key deliverables.
- Track project costs, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts to support effective cost management.
- Assist with budget monitoring and identify potential cost overruns or financial risks at an early stage.
- Review project documentation, including contracts, variations, change orders, progress records, and technical correspondence.
- Maintain accurate and organized project records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct or coordinate site inspections and quality checks to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable regulations.
- Work with quality teams to address non-conformances and support timely corrective actions.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery requirements to ensure availability of resources in line with project schedules.
- Support subcontractor management, including coordination of work activities, progress monitoring, and performance follow-up.
- Assist with contract administration and evaluate technical or operational aspects of variations and changes.
- Prepare and review progress reports, project updates, schedules, and other management information.
- Communicate project status, risks, milestones, technical matters, and required actions to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication with clients and other project representatives to support smooth project delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction methods, project processes, productivity, resource utilization, and overall delivery efficiency.
- Promote effective coordination between engineering, construction, procurement, commercial, quality, and safety functions.
- Ensure project activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety requirements and company procedures.
- Support HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness programs, and contribute to incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions in accordance with company and integrated management system requirements.

Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with project mobilization and initial execution planning.
- Participate in project meetings, coordination sessions, progress reviews, and technical discussions.
- Support the resolution of construction, engineering, procurement, and coordination issues.
- Review project requirements and communicate relevant technical information to site teams.
- Assist in evaluating project risks and developing mitigation measures.
- Support project close-out activities, including documentation, outstanding works, testing, and handover requirements.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Perform other project-related duties assigned by management.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction engineering principles, methods, materials, and project execution practices.
- Good knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and construction coordination.
- Proficiency with project management, scheduling, reporting, and documentation software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a practical approach to resolving project challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under project deadlines.
- Knowledge of subcontractor coordination, procurement, material management, and contract administration.
- Understanding of construction quality requirements and applicable safety regulations.
- ERP experience is an advantage; SAP functional knowledge is preferred where relevant to the position.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and efficient project delivery.
Job Experience
- Minimum total experience: 8 years.
- Relevant project engineering experience: 5 years or more.
- GCC experience: 2 years is preferred.
- Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary project environments is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, depending on project requirements.
- Relevant professional engineering certification is an advantage.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams is preferred.
- Familiarity with GCC construction practices and regulatory environments is beneficial.
