Electrical Inspector – Infrastructure & Utilities

Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Inspector to join our site supervision team for large-scale infrastructure and utilities projects. In this capacity, you will be responsible for performing complex inspection tasks across a range of electrical systems, including low-voltage (LV) networks, street lighting, traffic signals, and pumping stations. You will ensure that all installations, materials, and workmanship strictly comply with contract specifications, statutory regulations, and project quality standards, acting as a key guardian of safety and technical integrity on-site.
Core Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections of LV distribution networks, street lighting systems, traffic signal installations, and pumping/lifting stations.

Verify proper grounding, circuit integrity, cable routing, and termination in accordance with approved drawings and regulatory requirements.

Inspect electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, and control systems for compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Material & Workmanship Verification

Perform destructive and non-destructive testing on metals and materials, including dye penetrant, radiographic, tension/compression, paint thickness, and resistivity tests.

Validate piping systems through P&ID checks, hydraulic testing, and other pressure tests to ensure system integrity.

Inspect painting, insulation, and coating applications to ensure specified thickness and continuity.
Site Surveillance & Coordination

Monitor underground utilities installation, ensuring proper bedding, grading, and pipe tightness.

Oversee equipment alignment, balancing operations, and mechanical completion checks.

Provide general inspection oversight for all construction labor and subcontracted activities to guarantee professional workmanship.
Quality Assurance & Reporting

Contribute to the development and implementation of quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs).

Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and daily logs documenting work progress and any deviations.

Participate in the preparation of safety reports and the enforcement of job safety practices on-site.
Stakeholder & Contractor Interface

Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth execution.

Review and interpret blueprints, construction specifications, and shop drawings to validate compliance.

May administer welder qualification tests as required by project scope.
Required Qualifications & Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree or a minimum 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of construction inspection experience, specifically related to LV networks, street lighting, traffic signals, pumping/lifting stations, stormwater, sewerage, and general infrastructure projects.

Regional Experience: Prior experience in the Gulf region is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Thorough familiarity with construction processes, blueprint reading, and specifications interpretation.

Soft Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients.
Desired Skills

Knowledge of international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, BS, DEWA/RTA regulations).

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection and reporting.

Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions on-site.

Proficiency in MS Office and basic engineering software for documentation and reporting.
